Yellowstone's main park roads form a "figure eight," with spurs heading out from the "eight" to the five park entrances. For reference purposes, the “eight” is divided into an upper and lower loop.

From Madison Junction, drive 16 miles/ 26 kilometers south along with main park road (west side-lower loop) to Old Faithful Village.


From West Thumb Junction, drive 17 miles/27 kilometers west along the main park road (south side-lower loop) to Old Faithful Village.

Overall, Old Faithful is 51 miles/82 kilometers from Mammoth Hot Springs, 38 miles/61 kilometers from the Lake Village, 39 miles/62 kilometers from the South Entrance and 30 miles/48 kilometers from the West Entrance.

 

Grant Village

Yellowstone's main park roads form a "figure eight," with spurs heading out from the "eight" to the five park entrances. For reference purposes, the “eight” is divided into an upper and lower loop.

West Thumb Junction is where the southern spur road (South Entrance road) intersects the lower loop of the park's road system. From the south entrance, travel north 22 miles/ 35 kilometers on the South Entrance road to Grant Village and West Thumb.

From the west/Old Faithful Village, travel east along the main park road (south side-lower loop) for 17 miles/27 kilometers. From the north/Lake Yellowstone Village, travel south 21 miles /34 kilometers on the main park road (east side-lower loop.)
