Follow the beautiful Firehole River on skis or snowshoes on this five mile round-trip adventure to Lone Star Geyser on the beautiful tree-lined trail which offers great views of the Firehole River and meadows. Go at your own pace on our easiest trail as the interpretive guide skis between groups offering commentary and answering questions. We recommend bringing a small backpack for snacks, additional warm clothing, and a water bottle (hard sided water bottles are recommend, flexible water reservoirs can quickly freeze when exposed to cold temps.)
If choosing to ski, you must have basic Nordic skiing skills. Lessons are available through the Bear Den Ski Shop. Children are welcome but must be physically capable of keeping up with the group.
Skis/snowshoe rentals are not included in the price, but are available to rent at the Bear Den Ski Shop.
Old Faithful Snow Lodge
Over-snow transportation is required to and from Snow Lodge during the winter season, roads are closed to personal vehicles. We offer snowcoach transportation between Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel and Old Faithful Snow Lodge for an additional charge (reservations are required each direction).
