In celebration of the National Park Service’s 100th anniversary, Xanterra Parks & Resorts is a proud participant in the National Park Foundation’s “Find Your Park” campaign, which encourages every American to get out and explore the National Park System. It’s about making great connections, exploring amazing places, discovering open spaces, enjoying affordable vacations and enhancing America’s best idea—the national parks! Together we can connect and create the next generation of park visitors, supporters and advocates.
Yellowstone became the world’s first national park when President Ulysses S. Grant signed the Yellowstone Park Act into law on March 1, 1872. With the stroke of a pen, the nation and the world would start down an incredible path toward the protection and celebration of special places.
Xanterra can also trace its legendary hospitality back to the early days of the park, through the long series of changes and acquisitions that started with the Yellowstone Park Association (YPA) in 1886. It was the YPA that was responsible for the construction of the Lake Yellowstone Hotel, the oldest standing hotel in Yellowstone National Park, and a classic that will celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2016. Since these early days, Xanterra and its earlier generations have been responsible for the building and operations of a range of guest facilities and services including the nine remaining lodging operations and most notably, the renowned Old Faithful Inn.
