In the winter access to Old Faithful Snow Lodge is by over-the-snow vehicles only. You can make reservations for a snow coach by calling 866 GEYSERLAND (866-439-7375). Snowcoaches to Old Faithful depart from Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel, West Yellowstone and Flagg Ranch.

Whether you depart from Old Faithful or Mammoth the journey to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is part of experiencing the wonder of Yellowstone in winter. The Canyon itself is breathtakingly beautiful cloaked in winter finery.

Grand Canyon Day Tour from Mammoth
This narrated sightseeing tour to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone departs the Mammoth Hotel at 8:30am and tours the area between Mammoth and Norris, with sights including the Hoodoos, Swan Lake Flats, Obsidian Cliff, and Roaring Mountain. A brief rest stop is made at Norris Junction (no scheduled tour of Norris), and continues east to Canyon arriving around noon. Spend up to 2 wonderful hours at the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. You may order a box lunch from the dining room the night before to bring along on this tour. Vending machine items are available for purchase at the Canyon Warming Hut. You’re encouraged to bring your own thermos if you want hot beverages. Return is via the same route with a scheduled arrival time of 5:00pm at Mammoth. Timing can vary due to weather conditions. Stops are also made throughout the day to view wildlife. We suggest participants dress for cold outside temperatures, layers are best.

Grand Canyon Day Tour from Old Faithful
This narrated sightseeing tour to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone departs the Snow Lodge at 8:30am and follows the road north from Old Faithful through the Upper and Lower Geyser Basins to Madison Junction, where a brief stop is made. The tour continues north along the Gibbon River through excellent elk and bison habitat, following the road east from Norris to Canyon. Spend up to 2 wonderful hours at the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. You may order a box lunch from the dining room the night before to bring along on this tour. Vending machine items are available for purchase at the Canyon Warming Hut. You’re encouraged to bring your own thermos if you want hot beverages. Depending on the weather and road conditions, time and conditions permitting, the tour may visit Haden Valley before returning to Old Faithful Snow Lodge at 6:00pm via the west side of the park. Timing can vary due to weather conditions. Stops are also made throughout the day to view wildlife. We suggest participants dress for cold outside temperatures, layers are best.

Clothing
Although our snowcoaches are heated, the sightseeing stops along the way from start to finish necessitate warm footwear and clothing.
