Experience this amazing adventure yourself! Imagine waking up to a sunrise over glassy morning waters of Yellowstone Lake. After breakfast, paddle a secluded section of the lake that few people have ever experienced!

Our Backcountry Shuttle Service can carry up to 6 people, gear and boats to backcountry drop-off locations and campsites on Yellowstone Lake.

Set up a base camp from which to explore remote locations (by paddle or foot) of Yellowstone. Use the service to get you to a better starting point for your backpacking trip. With this service, you can have a true Yellowstone backcountry experience with all the conveniences of car-camping.

Get an early start! Spend the night before or after your backcountry trip in a nearby park hotel. Within 5 miles of Bridge Bay Marina are Lake Lodge Cabins, and Lake Yellowstone Hotel and Cabins.  Grant Village and Canyon Lodge and Cabins are approx. 20 miles.  
 

Drop off points include: Eagle Bay, Wolf Bay, Plover Point, Promontory, Columbine Creek on the east shore of the mouth of the Southeast arm. The shuttle can be booked one way, round trip or for any point-to-point service from the five mentioned drop off points as well as to and from Bridge Bay Marina. 

Typical loads:

  • up to six backpackers with backpacking gear per shuttle trip.
  • up to six campers with gear including three or four kayaks/canoes per shuttle trip, determined by weather conditions and overall weight.
  • book multiple shuttle trips to accommodate large parties or outfitters.

Canoes and/or rowboats may be rented in conjunction with a backcountry shuttle. Canoe rental includes: 17' canoe, paddles, life vests, and outriggers. Rowboat rental includes: 16’ rowboat, oars, and life vests.

June 15 - September 1      

   Office hours      8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.   

   Last departure   3 p.m.


Sept. 2 - Sept. 13          

   Office hours      9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 

   Last departure   2:00 p.m.

*Sept 13 last drop/pick-up for the season.

Custom Guided Fishing and Sightseeing Tours

Yellowstone Lake is home to native Cutthroat Trout and the exotic Lake Trout. Its also a huge lake, with lots of beautiful scenery and interesting history. Our guide boats depart from Bridge Bay Marina and can provide a custom tour of the lake or a day of fishing.

Rental rate includes:

  • Experienced fishing and/or tour guide.
  • Fishing gear (rods and tackle).  Conditions permitting up to 3 people may actually fish at one time.
  • Life jackets for each person.
  • Gas.
  • Fish cleaning upon request.

Guidelines:

  • Capacity 1-6 people, the choice is yours.
  • Maximum six people, regardless of age. This is a Coast Guard regulation. Exceptions are not possible.
  • Guide boats must be reserved in advance.
  • Guests must check in 15 minutes prior to departure time.
  • No overnight rentals are available.

Hours available:

  • June 15 to Aug 8, 2009, 7:45 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
     
  • August 9 to September 1, 7:45 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
  • September 2 to September 6, 8:45 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
