In the winter the roads into the interior of Yellowstone National Park are closed to wheeled vehicles. The only roads open to wheeled vehicles is the road from the North Entrance to Mammoth and from Mammoth to Tower/Roosevelt and out to Cooke City.
Access to Old Faithful Snow Lodge is via over the snow transportation only. Snowcoaches to Old Faithful depart from Mammoth, West Yellowstone and Flagg Ranch (the South Entrance).

The ice skating rink is open as long as the weather permits. Reservations are not necessary. Free skate rentals are available at the front desk.

Hours and dates of operation depend on the weather. Visit the front desk at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge for specific information. Generally, Yellowstone is open in the winter season from late December through early March.
