Yellowstone Lodging - Overview
Stay in the Park
The accommodations in Yellowstone aren't just places to stay, they are monuments to a long-standing ideal that special places in the world should be set aside and preserved for future generations. Staying in the park is the best way for visitors to experience all it has to offer. Once the day-visitors leave, Yellowstone remains for the in-park overnight guests alone. If you wanted your own private Yellowstone...this is your chance!
Yellowstone is Living History
With the world's first national park came the need to provide services for the comfort and service of its visitors. As a result, hotels, lodges, tent camps, and campgrounds were built in Yellowstone to accommodate its guests. Some of the original establishments remain.
The Mammoth Hot Springs developed area dates back to the late 1800s and eventually became the site of the original Fort Yellowstone. Located near President Theodore Roosevelt's favorite camping area are the Roosevelt Lodge Cabins. The Old Faithful Inn is a national park icon that inspired what later became known as "parkitecture" and sits right beside the magnificent Old Faithful Geyser. The oldest hotel in the park is the casually elegant Lake Yellowstone Hotel, a Victorian-influenced gem on the shore of Yellowstone Lake.
But not everything is historic. The award-winning Old Faithful Snow Lodge, built in 1999, is in the Old Faithful village.
In total, you have a choice of nine distinctly different Yellowstone lodging properties and experiences, all in the park.
What's in a Yellowstone Guestroom?
Yellowstone National Park is an authentic American experience, which should keep every guest and visitor deeply engaged and spending time exploring the park.
With this in mind, we do not have televisions or radios in the rooms or cabins, but telephones are available in most hotel and lodge rooms. Cabins do not have telephones.
Limited wireless Internet service is proposed for non-historic accommodations and may be available for the 2010 summer season. Additionally, limited cell phone service is accessible at Old Faithful, Mammoth, Grant Village, and Canyon areas. Unfortunately, not all service providers can be accessed in the park.
The daily high temperatures in Yellowstone rarely exceed the low-80 degrees Fahrenheit. Because "it's a dry heat," hotels and cabins do not have air conditioning; however, fans are provided.
Wheelchair accessible accommodations are available. Please note that all park accommodations are non-smoking.
