These cooperative programs combine the unparalleled experience of the Yellowstone Association Institute (one of the largest and most well respected field schools in the National Park System) and the accommodations, meals and activities of Yellowstone National Park Lodges. Moisture from those thermal features combined with the cold winter temperatures create some amazing landscapes. Because a blanket of white covers the ground, most of the larger mammals are easier to spot making winter a wildlife watchers dream. This week long educational adventure will include snowshoe and ski tours in a variety of winter habitats, including the Lamar Valley, Old Faithful and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.

Beginning at Mammoth Hot Springs, you'll travel by snowcoach to a warm and cozy base deep in the center of the Park at Old Faithful Snow Lodge. From there you will travel by snowcoach to Yellowstone's remote and spectacular winter gems - including Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and Yellowstone Lake - in search of wildlife, steaming thermal features, grand winter views and the true sense of winter wilderness. This program is primarily snowcoach based, with short easy walks on foot or snowshoe to viewpoints and thermal areas.
