Winter Things to Do for Mammoth Hot Springs HotelThe following are activities that are available during winter 2008/09. When visiting Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel in the winter, we suggest you enjoy the following activities: Tours ActivitiesSnowcoach ToursRound-tip snowcoach transportation is available daily from Mammoth and can be reserved through the reservation office. Snowcoach passengers must report to the Xanterra Parks & Resorts Front Desk at least 45 minutes prior to departure for ticketing and loading. Each guest entering the park by snowcoach is restricted to two pieces of luggage plus cross-country ski equipment. Hard-sided luggage is advised. Sightseeing stops necessitate warm footwear and clothing on our heated snowcoaches. Other Interpretive ToursThe Grand Canyon Day Tour to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is offered Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. The Wake up to Wildlife Tour is a guided tour to the Lamar Valley, offered daily from Mammoth. Continental breakfast included. The Lamar Valley Wildlife Tour is a guided tour to the Lamar Valley, offered Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. The Norris Geyser Basin Tour to the Norris Geyser Basin offered Monday, Wednesday and Saturday afternoons.
Skiing & SnowshoeingThere are many ski trails in the Mammoth and northern Yellowstone Park area. Daily ski shuttle service is available to the Indian Creek trails. Guests should inquire at check-in for schedules. Guided ski tours are available and must be reserved in advance. Ski tours include the full-day Grand Canyon Ski Tour, offered on Saturday. A minimum of 4 people is required. Ski tours are geared to the lower intermediate skier who will need basic experience in snowplowing, turning, and uphill technique. Ski and snowshoe equipment rentals are available at the Bear Den Ski Shop on arrival. Guided Snowmobile ToursSnowmobile rentals are available for guided touring only. To reserve a snowmobile call our reservations office at 307.344.7311 or toll -free 866-GEYSERLAND (866-439-7375). Guided snowmobile rentals and tours will be available at Mammoth Hot Springs and Old Faithful Snow Lodge during the 2009/10 winter season. Ice SkatingAn ice skating rink is open depending on weather. No reservations taken. Skate rentals are free and available through the Front Desk. Hot TubsFour private hot tubs are available. Each holds up to 6 people. The attached cabin provides a private dressing room. To reserve in advance call toll-free 866-GEYSERLAND (866-439-7375) or through the Front Desk.
