SPRING WOLF & BEAR DISCOVERY PACKAGE SHOWCASES YELLOWSTONE’S PREMIER PREDATORS

March 07th, 2012

As the snow melts in Yellowstone National Park, the bears wake up and begin competing for food with the park’s various wildlife, especially wolves.

“Some people mark the arrival of spring with showers and flowers,” said Rick Hoeninghausen, director of sales and marketing for Xanterra Parks & Resorts, operator of the lodges, restaurants, tours and other concessions in the park. “In Yellowstone, we note things like the first post-hibernation grizzly sighting or the appearance of wolf pups.”

Interest in these two dynamic species prompted Xanterra and the non-profit Yellowstone Association Institute to team up to offer the “Spring Wolf & Bear Discovery,” a three-day, four-night program offered throughout the month of May.

This Lodging & Learning package is designed to provide an in-depth and active park experience that focuses on two of the park’s most intriguing predators. Days are filled with field activities led by an Institute naturalist including short hikes in bear and wolf habitat and sunrise and sunset trips to Yellowstone’s Northern Range to look for bears and wolves. Two classroom presentations provide opportunities to learn more about the behavior of these famous predators. The package includes lodging, most meals, in-park transportation and more. The program is priced at $669 per person for double occupancy and $893 for single occupancy. Taxes and utility fees not included.

Program participation is kept small to maximize the experience. In this case there is a maximum of 12 people and a minimum age of 12 years old.

Reservations for the Spring Wolf & Bear Discovery can be made by calling 1-307-344-7311 or toll-free 1-866-GEYSERLAND (1-866-439-7375), or visiting the web site www.YellowstoneNationalParkLodges.com.
