Nature of the Northern Range

Departs from: Gardiner, MT and Mammoth Hotel

This special tour is running just in the latter part of the 2009 season, to help Park visitors
staying in the northern reaches take the best advantage of Yellowstone in spite of the road closures
that construction has required. Join us for a trip to Secluded Valley (the correct historical name, given
by fur trapper Osborne Russell in the mid-1830s, for what’s called Lamar Valley today), where we’ll
keep our eyes out for whichever of the wild things might be in view, and enjoy the superlative
scenery of the area in any case. From here, we’re up and over the Park’s highest road, Dunraven
Pass, cresting at 8,859 feet, (2,700 meters), and on to Canyon Village for lunch. For the afternoon,
we’ll view the waterfalls of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River and Hayden Valley before
returning to Canyon Village for a short break. From here we’ll travel the other side of Yellowstone’s
Upper Loop, visiting Rustic Falls and Marble Terrace at Mammoth Hot Springs to finish out our day.
Lunch not included in tour price.

Circle of Fire

Departs from: Canyon Lodge, Fishing Bridge RV Park, Lake Hotel, Bridge Bay Campground, Old Faithful Inn, Grant Village

This tour travels along the lower portion of Yellowstone's figure eight road system. The major sights include the Upper and Lower Geyser Basins, Yellowstone Lake, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River, and Norris Geyser Basin. A lunch stop (location varies) is scheduled on this tour. Lunch is not included in tour price.

The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

Late summer 2009 will present some challenges for touring Yellowstone, as the road between
Norris and Madison Junctions closes for reconstruction on August 17th for the rest of the season. For
those staying at Old Faithful, we shall offer an all-day tour to take in the West Thumb Geyser Basin,
Hayden Valley (where wildlife is often seen), and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, home to
the 109-foot (33-meter) Upper Falls and the 308-foot (93-meter) Lower Falls of the Yellowstone
River – the view of the Lower Falls from Artist Point, which the tour will enjoy, is one of the most
scenic spots in North America. The tour will depart from Old Faithful Inn at 8:30 a.m., and lunch
at Canyon Village along the way. For an informative and enjoyable day, let our congenial driver-host
show you The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone!

The Washburn Expedition

*Departs from: Lake Hotel, Fishing Bridge RV Park, Canyon Lodge, Bridge Bay Marina

General Henry Washburn led an expedition to Yellowstone in 1870. Today we offer a modern-day version of Washburn's trek with our own Washburn Expedition. The tour will include the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and Dunraven Pass. Experience the wildlife, geology and breathtaking scenery that Washburn first experienced (without the saddle sores.)
