Boating and fishing are both popular activities on Yellowstone Lake. At our Bridge Bay Marina, located a few miles south of the Lake Yellowstone Hotel and Lake Lodge, we offer charter guide boats, outboard rental boats, and rowboats. Tours of the lake make for a relaxing and informative experience as well.
For backcountry exploration, we offer a shuttle service that carries you and your gear to designated sites on the farther reaches of Yellowstone Lake. You can take along your canoe/kayak (or one of our canoes) if you wish to explore more of the lakeshore.
Fishing in Yellowstone
Fishing is allowed in Yellowstone, in fact, Yellowstone is known for some of its blue-ribbon fishing streams. Fishing licenses are required for anyone over 16 years old, whether fishing with one of our guides, or privately in a lake or river.
It is the responsibility of the visitor to obtain the proper fishing licenses, and understand the rules. Fishing licenses cost $18 for three days, $25 for seven days, and $40 for a season permit. Permits can be purchased at the Yellowstone General Stores located throughout the park and Bridge Bay Marina. Before fishing in Yellowstone, we recommend you review the information found on the National Park Service website.
*If you are bringing your own boat and/or float tube into Yellowstone, you will need to obtain a permit from the National Park Service and get an aquatic invasive species inspection before entering the water.
