A wedding in Yellowstone is very much a destination wedding.  Our Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel venue offers a nearby historic chapel for the ceremony and event rooms for the reception. We can cater the reception with buffet meals and bar. If you’re wanting to enhance the experience with activities involving other guided Yellowstone adventures, we can do that too. Think about the wedding photos….happy family members, the bride and groom, and perhaps a few elk or bison. Can’t find this just anywhere!

FAQ's about weddings and ceremonies in Yellowstone National Park

The Mammoth Hot Springs Chapel, in the northern part of Yellowstone, offers Pastoral services for wedding ceremonies. Reservations and additional fees may be required. You can contact the Mammoth Chapel at (307) 344-2203.

In addition, Yellowstone National Park Lodges may have spaces within our lodges and event spaces. Speak with our sales consultant for more details.

Weddings and other ceremonies may be permitted in certain areas of Yellowstone National Park including the Canyon Area, Old Faithful Area, Mammoth Hot Springs, Lamar Valley, Yellowstone Lake, and Park Amphitheaters. Thermal areas and boardwalks in the park a very busy, ceremonies in these locations are discouraged and will most likely not receive permit approval.

You will need to obtain a Special Use Permit from the National Park Service to have an outdoor ceremony in a public area of the park. Visit the Yellowstone NPS wedding page for the more information.

The National Park Service does not require a marriage license for wedding ceremonies to take place within the park. You will need to follow state requirements for marriage licenses. With that in mind, Yellowstone National Park covers three states, Wyoming (Park County or Teton County), Idaho (Fremont County), and Montana (Park County). Our wedding advisor can help you determine which state to obtain a marriage license from based on ceremony location.

Yes, Yes, and Yes!!  Every season brings something special in Yellowstone National Park. Please note that during the peak tourist months of June, July, and August, availability for event space and rooms can be limited and/or unavailable at all.

Our lodges operate on a seasonal basis and the most current dates can be found here. During the winter, only Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel and Old Faithful Snow Lodge are open. Snowcoach transportation is required to stay at Old Faithful Snow Lodge. Both lodges offer beautiful spaces for ceremonies and receptions.

Park roads open and close on a seasonal basis. The only park road that is open year-round to public vehicles is the North Entrance to the Northeast Entrance. During the winter over snow vehicles (snowcoaches and snowmobiles) are the only vehicles allowed on most park roads. The current opening and closing dates for park roads can be found here. Road opening and closing dates are around the same time each year if you are planning for a wedding or ceremony a year or two in advance.

Once inside the park, we can provide a variety of transportation options based on availability including our Historic Yellow Buses. Vehicle rental options can be found here.

Yes! We offer buffet style options for your reception. You can choose from a pre-determined buffet, or we would be happy to customize dining room menus for your event.

Wedding receptions have a $3,000 minimum food & beverage sales requirement.

Yellowstone National Park Lodges will provide linens at no charge. Linen options include white tablecloths, white napkins, burgundy napkins, and burgundy table skirts.

Flowers and cakes can be brought into our facilities, as Yellowstone National Park Lodges does not provide these items. No outside food or beverage will be permitted other than a cake. A cake plating fee of $1.75/person will be applied.

A dance floor can be added to your reception, if space allows, for a set-up fee of $250.

Due to the volume of requests, please expect a delay before a response is received.
