YELLOWSTONE WILD WEST ADVENTURES

Yellowstone isn’t all geysers and grizzlies. With a human presence dating back more than 11,000 years, the world’s first national park has a rich history full of stories. Some of the most exciting tales come from one of America’s most endearing time periods: the Old West. Relive the frontier days of cowboys, outlaws, and pioneers with these fun Yellowstone activities. Happy Trails!

Saddle Up

There’s no better way to explore Yellowstone’s wild side than on horseback.

  1. Roosevelt Ride*

Ride through sagebrush flats, across streams, and enjoy views of Pleasant Valley and Hellroaring Mountain. The 2-hour journey takes you up a wooded hillside, along Lost Canyon and over Lost Creek. Climb up to and around Lost Lake, coming out by the Petrified Tree, then back to the corral.

  1. Canyon Ride*

Travel through an open meadow and follow Cascade Creek through a wooded area. The 2-hour ride takes you through forest regrowth from the legendary 1988 fire, then along the rim of the Cascade Canyon for a great view from Coyote Slide.

Stagecoach Adventure

Tap into your inner pioneer on an authentic Tally-ho stagecoach, the first vehicles used in the park.

  1. Partial Day Tour

The ride from the Roosevelt corral through beautiful Yellowstone countryside will take you back to the days when wagons and stagecoaches ran the Wild West. Don’t forget your binoculars and camera. You never know what you’ll see along the way!

Old West Dinner Cookout

We hope you’re hungry! Enjoy some real cowboy grub at this wildly popular dining experience.

  1. By Horseback Ride*

All the perks of a horseback ride with a cherished Yellowstone favorite. Enjoy a leisurely ride through flats and meadows to the cookout site, then, a good old-fashioned cup of coffee brewed over a campfire. Ring the dinner bell, and tap your toes as you’re serenaded by our singing cowboy.

  1. By Wagon Ride

Head to dinner at dusk like a true pioneer: by canvas-covered wagon drawn by two horses. Waiting for you: steak, signature Roosevelt Baked Beans, and all the trimmings at Pleasant Valley, site of the old Uncle John Yancey’s hotel. And if you’re lucky, hear some real Wild West stories along the way!

Until we meet again, partner!
