Yellowstone Staff Raise Money for Park Projects

Xanterra’s partnership with the park’s official non-profit partner, Yellowstone Forever (YF), has spanned nearly three decades. One of the collaborations we get most excited about is a donation program at our Lodges and Campgrounds that solicits support from overnight guests.  Thanks to the hard work of lodging and campground staff we’ve collected over $1.8M since the program’s inception.

To echo Yellowstone Forever, “In essence, Yellowstone Forever and Yellowstone National Park Lodges have the same core goals – to provide visitors with unforgettable and transformational park experiences and to help ensure Yellowstone National Park’s ecosystem and remarkable natural wonders remain intact in perpetuity.” This program makes great strides toward reaching those goals.

How they do it: During the check-in process, Guest Service Agents ask guests if they would like to make a voluntary donation to YF as a part of their stay. The guests can donate $1, $5, $10, or any amount of their choosing. 2023 was another successful year (as of the end of October, we’ve collected over $128K to support YF’s work to protect, preserve, and enhance Yellowstone National Park through education and philanthropy.

Why it matters: YF supports a wide range of programs.

  • Trout Conservation
  • Bison Conservation and Transfer Program
  • Yellowstone Wolf and Cougar Projects
  • Bear Box Project
  • Youth Education Initiatives

We’d like to give an extra special shout-out to a couple of locations who really knocked it out of the park this summer. The Old Faithful Inn staff had both the highest percentage of participants and brought in largest amount of donations – a tremendous achievement. However, we’d be remiss in not highlighting the strong performance by our campgrounds this year – most notably, the Madison Campground (largest donations among all campgrounds and second highest collections overall), Fishing Bridge RV Park, and the Canyon Campground. Great work, team!

Please join us, along with our friends at YF, in recognizing the individuals and operations that are making a huge impact to protect Yellowstone for future generations!
