Top Wild West Adventures

Yellowstone isn’t all geysers and grizzlies. With a human presence dating back more than 11,000 years, the world’s first national park has a rich history full of stories. Some of the most exciting tales come from one of America’s most endearing time periods: the Old West. Step into the boots of the pioneers and experience Yellowstone like never before with our Wild West Adventures. From stagecoach rides to morning wagon tours to horseback journeys, these unique experiences transport you back in time to the days of rugged exploration and cowboy charm. Savor the thrill of a cookout dinner, complete with hearty Western fare and unforgettable views, with our very popular Old West Dinner Cookout. Whether you have an hour or a whole evening, our Wild West Adventures promise an unforgettable experience for all.

MORNING ON THE RANGE

Spend a peaceful, quiet Morning on the Range traveling by covered wagon through Pleasant Valley, where you’ll step back in time and discover Yellowstone’s hidden history. We will stop at the remnants of Uncle John Yancey’s hotel for coffee, snacks, and a few campfire stories. The morning is also one of the best times to spot wildlife, and Pleasant Valley is known for sightings of bison, bears, marmots, coyotes, and more.

SADDLE UP

There’s no better way to feel like a cowboy than by exploring Yellowstone’s wild side on horseback. Our 1-hour ride goes through sagebrush flats and forested areas, to enjoy views of Pleasant Valley and Hellroaring Mountain. The 2-hour ride takes you up a wooded hillside behind the corral, travels along Lost Canyon and over Lost Creek before coming out by the Petrified Tree, then back to the corral. Please note: to ride a horse, a person must be at least 8 years old, 48 inches tall, weigh under 240 lbs, and understand English. Ages 8-17 must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or over. Anyone under the age of 18 must wear a helmet.
