Autumn in Yellowstone brings crisp, clear mornings, golden-hued aspens, and wildlife growing their heavier fur coats and fattening up for the long winter ahead. Some of the spectacular megafauna (as our friends in the National Park Service like to call the large animals we all hope to see) have certain haunts they may frequent for a few days, and our guides do a lot of networking with others in the field to do their best to assure that they get you to where the critters are.
The Lamar Valley Wildlife Tour will have you out early to try and find the wild critters in their habitat. We’ll head east from the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel across Yellowstone’s Northern Range and out into the famed Lamar Valley along the Park’s Northeast Entrance Road, and we may make it all the way to the charming hamlet of Cooke City, Montana, before retracing our steps to Mammoth Hot Springs in mid-afternoon (animals are where they decide to be, so on days with lots of wildlife watching the tour doesn’t make it as far before it’s time to return). Your driver/guide will be loaded up with information about Yellowstone’s flora, fauna, geography, geology, and human history, as well as spotting scopes and meals! We’ll have along a Continental breakfast of muffin and juice and a deli lunch (included in the price of the tour). Please order your deli lunch at the Front Desk by 7:00 p.m. the night prior to your tour (Club Croissant deli lunches will be ordered for all individuals who do not place an order). If you’d like hot beverages along the way, please bring a thermos along (you’ll be able to fill it at the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel before departure). For a wonderful day out in the wild, join us for the Lamar Valley Wildlife Tour!
