To fish or not to fish?  The choice is yours!

Yellowstone Lake is home to gorgeous native Cutthroat Trout and non-native Lake Trout.  Your experienced Captain provides the gear and takes you to places with the best potential for catching fish.  If you desire sightseeing only, this is the best way to get further into the remote areas of Yellowstone in a short time frame.   Charter guide boats are available throughout the day with a minimum of a 2-hour trip required. Anyone over 16 years or older who intends to fish much purchase a fishing license.

Advanced Reservation: 2 hours, 4.5 hours, 7 hours, 9.5 hours, 12 hours
Short notice reservations made at a Xanterra activity desk: Subject to availability, custom lengths from 2-12 hours.

General Information

  • Boat Capacity: 1-5 people from your party only. The maximum capacity is 5 people, regardless of age.
  • Advanced reservations are strongly encouraged. No overnight rentals are available. No pets allowed. Fishing permit fees are not included and can be purchased at can be purchased at Bridge Bay Marina upon check in or online at Recreation.gov
  • Guides will need to see your license before leaving on your tour.  Ensure it is with you!

Rental Rate Includes:

  • Experienced fishing and/or tour guide
  • Fishing gear (rods and tackle). Conditions permitting up to 3 people may fish at one time. Fishing may consist of casting and/or trolling with or without downriggers depending on conditions and guide discretion. Trolling is often conducted with 1 or 2 lines depending on conditions.
  • Life jackets for each person
  • Gas
  • Fish cleaning upon request

Not Included in the Rental Rate:

  • National Park Service Yellowstone Fishing Permit (per angler):
    • 3 day:             $40
    • 7 day:             $55
    • Annual:          $75
    • Children 15 years or younger can fish for free
